The Oregon Mandolin Orchestra in concert at the Walters Cultural Arts Center, 527 East Main St., Hillsboro, 97123. The Orchestra, which is the only one of its kind in Oregon, is modeled after the traditional mandolin orchestras which were mainstream in the United States before the turn of the 20th century. During this first season of performances at the Arts Center, the Orchestra, under the masterful direction of Brian Oberlin, will delve into this wide-ranging body of music, playing pieces from classical to folk to swing to rag, and everything in between.
