When Do We Meet?

The first Monday of every month, starting at 7:00 PM and ending about 9:00 PM. All meetings are free and open to the public. When the first Monday is a holiday -- usually on Labor Day in September, and often on the Fourth of July -- the meeting is postponed to the second Monday of the month.

What Happens at a Meeting?

The first few minutes of each meeting are used to handle PGS business and announcements. The five Board members report briefly on future meetings, special events, the lending library, our newsletter, and membership. Announcements of general interest, such as an upcoming event or an item for sale, can be made from the floor.

A short break (5-10 minutes) provides time for people to sign up for the open mic session. A little over one hour is available to divide among the dozen or so who wish to perform, so players are normally limited to one number each.

After another short break to prepare the stage, the final 20 to 30 minutes of the meeting are given to our "featured performer". This is a local player of professional level who is invited to present an informal mini-concert. When the featured performer is finished, the meeting closes.

To provide opportunities for more open mic time, PGS reserves two meetings each year (normally March and September) where we forgo the featured performer and devote the entire evening to open mic.
